a friday afternoon lunch outing.
my coworkers and I decided to do a little lunch outing this afternoon since one of my coworkers is getting a total knee replacement this weekend. where did we go? uncle franky's. a little hole-in-the-wall joint in northeast minneapolis. they specialize in hot dogs, and man, were they good. your typical little dive diner feel with a counter and good ol' Geo cooking the hotdogs right there as you watch. Delish. So enjoy my photo journalism of our outing :)
Amazing menu...
Nice Chicago Dog ready to eat...

refinishing!
so I'm moving into a new apartment next weekend- get excited for some GREAT before and after posts. So anticipating my move, I looked at what furniture I had, what looks I wanted to go with, and decided to refinish two pretty average pieces of furniture: a night stand, and a little bench.
So, here is the before:

Primed and ready to go! You can also see the "before" for the little bench on the right.

AND AFTER! (obviously not the best shots...you'll see more when they're in my apartment)

Found the little vintage knobs at Anthropologie, of course. They have some amazing vintage options!

and the little bench! This will be perfect in my entry way.

fog.
as a fierce lover of the greyest of grey days, storms and lots of chilly rain, it's no surprise that i also love fog. last night we got an incredible storm and I woke up extra early to quite a bit of fog lingering in the trees around my room. i was immediately reminded of a quote from Dickens' "Bleak House" where he describes fog. read it, and enjoy the vivid imagery :)

Fog everywhere. Fog up the river, where it flows among green aits and meadows; fog down the river, where it rolls defiled among the tiers of shipping and the waterside pollutions of a great (and dirty) city. Fog on the Essex marshes, fog on the Kentish heights. Fog creeping into the cabooses of collier-brigs; fog lying out on the yards, and hovering in the rigging of great ships; fog drooping on the gunwales of barges and small boats.
