Fascinating and unexpected video celebrating the Eames with none other than Ice Cube. Watch it- it's pretty interesting.

it's the annual christmas cocktail party!

HUZZAH! it's finally time for my annual christmas cocktail party! chock full of delicious appetizers, festive decorations,
(Billy May- Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer)

Yes, there will be lil' smokies and no, there will be no 7UP. Sorry to disappoint, kiddos.

Hopefully the conversation is a little more stimulating than this picture may allude to- the punch is there to help.

Moral of this picture: Bringing gifts may yield stolen kisses. Just sayin'...

Mistletoe will be strategically placed. Don't be alarmed if that special someone mysteriously drags you to a corner of my apartment in flustered/nervous anticipation.

pat's tap.

last night some girlfriends and i went to Pat's Tap, a new restaurant in minneapolis (sisters, if you're reading this, the head chef is charlie schwandt! i think it's the same edina charlie schwandt judging by the picture but i could be wrong). having the same owners as bryant lake bowl and red stag supper club, i knew the food was going to be good, but i didn't know just how good. we started off with a bottle of wine and tried the deconstructed buffalo chicken terrine. absolutely delicious. thin slices of celery, crumbled blue cheese, and a spicy, tender and delicious terrine (which is pretty much a little loaf of chicken). each of us got something different; jen/becca had the muscles, jackie had the AMAZING grilled cheese (cheese, figs, arugula, apple- to die for), mary rose had the black bean burger, and i tried the bacon burger off the recommendation of our favorite bartender at bryant lake bowl. moist, tender and utterly delicious. i also like to try restaurant's cocktails. boy was i NOT disappointed. their old fashioned might be my favorite in the city (granted I haven't been to marvel bar yet!). the secret, i believe, is the cherry bark bitters they used. made the drink light enough where the bourbon wasn't overpowering, and the combination of orange, bourbon, maraschino cherries, cherry bitters and club soda was fantastic. looking forward to attempting to make my own (might have to get one of these). all in all, a great experience and i can't wait to go back!
oh fer cute!

so i stumbled upon THIS lil guy's halloween costume recently. i immediately melted- who doesn't love carl from "UP"? And who doesn't love the cutest little toddler dressed as carl for halloween? so cute. must. have. boy. someday! and in case you can't get enough of this lil guy (his mom is an amazing photographer), check out this little video of their family.

Acting.

We had quite the night of boardgames last evening. We started off with 7 Wonders, a strategic, simulateous-play 7-person game which was lovely. We then moved on to The Resistance, an extremely fun game where everyone selects a card and only 2 are spies (the horror!!) And the rest of the group tries to pass challenges and figure out who the spies are. Long story short, it was VERY fun to try and convince people that I was not a spy when I really was one almost every round. It made me think of how much I enjoy acting/theatrics. If I could do a community theater production, I would. I just think it would be so fun! Maybe I will look into it for the upcoming 2012 season. Le sigh- to be, or not to be; that is the question.
