monday.

i'm hoping we're having the last deep freeze of the winter up here in minnesota- last night it was -12 without windchill. whoa. what did i do when it was so frigid outside? i stayed in my cozy apartment. i had some dinner and a summit winter ale beer, put on my al green vinyl and read cosmo in my freshly made bed. only thing that would have made it better? a long bath- and maybe nails long enough to paint. ah the joys of being single and having my own place ;)

wailin' jennys.

the wailin' jennys, one of my favorite groups, released a new album today. it. is. amazing. highly suggest getting it or even sampling on itunes. sisters, get ready for maine because we have a lot of new material to learn ;)

overwhelmed.

apparently all of my clients have decided to start new projects all at once. when it rains, it pours right? when feeling completely overwhelmed, i typically turn to music to try and calm me down. usually some Linford Detweiler or Kings of Convenience does the trick- but today i need something more; icelandic artist Ólafur Arnalds. amazing. how relaxed does this make you feel?

big fan of him. so with a little Ólafur Arnalds, i'm feeling slightly better. what else to brighten this quickly-turned-sour day? reminiscing about some of my favorite memories with my favorite people: my semester in italy. take this picture, for example, from literally one of the best weekends of my life in sorrento, italy. limoncello, great friends, bioluminescent water, fireworks over the city. sigh.

and with that, i'm feeling better. TGIF!

the civil wars.

new music alert! stumbled across The Civil Wars today and boy am i glad i did. totally up my alley genre-wise; kind of a cross between Over the Rhine and Eastmountainsouth. a fantastic duo. and their lyrics and songs are so spot on- just love it. also love their name as a civil war history buff ;) enjoy! and get their new album.
